Parents are said to be one of the best gifts given by God to human beings who having the blessing of their parents are said to be the richest people in the world. It is because they provide what is best for their child and it is they who will guide you throughout your life. Every person should thank their parents for providing them with all their needs but despite these, they use torture or humiliation. Not all are the same, but a few of the worms implement such toxicity in society.
As a case was heard by me in India, a person who is 94 years old is taking care of his son, who is 58 years old and is a cancer patient. If it is the love and care of the parents towards their child that he is taking care of at the age of 94, then the world ignores their duty towards their parents, but why?

In Order to protect the rights of senior citizens, Indian law has different provisions for their welfare and maintenance. Section 20(3) of the Hindu Adoption and Maintenance Act outlines the obligation of the person to maintain his or her parents whenever they are capable of maintaining themselves; the same thing is mentioned under the Muslim law, which is that each person is bound to take care of their parents as per their financial capabilities.
In the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007, the following provisions are in place to safeguard the interests of senior citizens:
Maintenance
The act provides for legal provisions to ensure that children or relatives who have the means to support senior citizens are legally bound to provide them with maintenance and basic amenities.
Protection of Life and Property
The act makes it a legal obligation for children or relatives to protect the life and property of senior citizens. Any abuse or neglect can lead to legal action.
Medical Care
The act emphasizes the need for medical care for senior citizens and allows for the establishment of old age homes, hospitals, and other facilities to cater to their healthcare needs.
Reservation of Seats
The act includes provisions for the reservation of seats for senior citizens on public transport, including buses and trains.
Grievance Redressal
The act provides for the establishment of maintenance tribunals at the district level to address disputes related to the maintenance and welfare of senior citizens.
Apart from the specific provisions of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, the Indian Constitution also enshrines certain fundamental rights that indirectly contribute to the welfare of senior citizens. These include the right to equality, the right to life and personal liberty, and the right to protection from discrimination.
