Marriage Procedure in Madhya Pradesh

  • For the court marriage, the couple needs to follow certain procedures. The applicant first has to fill and submit the marriage application form to the marriage registrar of the district where either of the couples resides for a minimum of 30 days before submission of the application form.
  • After the submission of the application along with the required documents, the registrar will publish the notice of intended marriage for objections. The publication will be make at any prominent location within his office. He will preserve the original in his notice book.
  • The objections to the marriage can be make within 30 days from the publication of the notice. If any objection has been make then the marriage registrar will conduct the inquiry and if he finds the objection to be correct he will determine the marriage procedure. 
  • In such a case, an appeal can be file in the district court against the order of the marriage registrar grating the objection.  If he finds the objection meritless then he will proceed with the court marriage procedure.
  • After completing all this procedure, the party will visit the registrar’s office on the specified date along with witnesses. The parties and the three witnesses will sign the court marriage form attesting to their free consent to the marriage. The form must be sign in the presence of the court marriage registrar.
  • After all this procedure, it will be said that court marriage has been solemnize between the parties. The marriage certificate will be issue to the couple within a reasonable time.

Court Marriage registration procedure in Madhya Pradesh

The marriage registration can be through online mode. In this, the applicant needs to visit the home page of  MP e-Nagar Palika Portal, Madhya Pradesh. 

After this, click on citizen services. From the dropdown select the marriage registration. After this select the click here to apply. Here you will also find the instruction page. After this fill your all the details like city name etc., fill in all the necessary details and upload the documents. 

After completion of the application form, the payment section will appear on the screen. Make the payment. After making the payment, you will receive the acknowledgment number and payment receipt on your email ID. After this, you need to submit the payment receipt and acknowledgment number to the ward office of the authorities.

You can even register your marriage through an offline procedure as well. For this, the state government of Madhya Pradesh has opened a certain jan seva Kendra from where the applicant can get the application form. 

The couple can visit this center and submit the application form along with all the documents. After this, the authorities will do the verification and after verification, the authority will issue the marriage certificate to the applicant. The marriage certificate can be issue by SDM, local Municipal Corporation, Tehsildar officer, revenue department office, or through the panchayat.

The marriage certificate is the legal proof of marriage. It helps in the prevention of child marriage. It provides additional security to women as they can take legal action against their partner easily as they can prove the validity of marriage by submitting the marriage certificate.
