Who is Eligible for the GST Registration?

These businesses and individuals must complete the GST registration:

  • The businesses or the individuals who have registered themselves for the tax services before the GST law were introduced and came into effect.
  • Any person who provides service whose value is more than 20 lakhs in a year they are required to obtain the GST registration.
  • If any business which supplies goods that is more than 20 lakhs and supply the goods interstate they need GST registration.
  • Any individual who supplies the good or any services seasonally must register themselves for the GST.

Types of the GST registration in India?

There are various types of GST registration under the GST act, before registering the GST one must be aware of the type of the GST registration and those

GST registration types are:

  1. Normal Taxpayer: The abundant number of businesses in India fall under this type; there is no need to pay any deposit in this category.
  2. Casual Taxpayer person: the person or any individual who set up the shop seasonally are covered under this category, the duration of the GST registration in this type is 3 months and this can be renewed.
  3. Composition Taxpayer: The person should enrol themselves under the GST composition scheme, the person enrolled under this scheme can pay a flat GST rate but they cannot claim input tax credit.
  4. Non-Resident Taxable person: If a person living outside India, but supplies goods to a person who stays in India are covered under this type of GST registration, the duration of this GST is for 3 months and can be extended further.

How can a person register for GST by himself ?

Steps for online registration of GST

  • One should visit GST portal- https://www.gst.gov.in
  • Under the taxpayer tab click on register now link
  • Select the New Registration
  • Fill the all compulsory details
  1. Select taxpayer option
  2. Select your state and district
  3. Fill the name of the business
  4. Fill the PAN of the business
  5. Fill mobile phone number and email id in the respective columns the number must be active because the number will receive OTP 
  6. And click on the proceed button
  • Go to the next page and enter the OTP that were sent to you
  • After entering the details click on Proceed
  • TRN number (Temporary Reference Number) will be shown and note down that particular number
  • Again go to the GST website under the Taxpayer menu click Register

Select TRN and enter the TRN number and the captcha and click on proceed

  • OTP will be received on phone number and email, fill the otp and click on proceed
  • The status will be shown to you of your application, on the right hand side there a edit icon will be displayed click on that.
  • 10 sections will be shown on the next page fill all the relevant details and attach all the mandatory documents that are being asked and upload those documents
  1. Photo of the taxpayer
  2. Address proof of the business
  3. All relevant bank details
  4. Form of authorisation
  5. Taxpayer’s Constitution 
  • Now visit the verification page verify the declaration  by different code which will be sent to your registered mobile number
  • Once everything is completed success display will be shown and thus ARN number will be sent on your registered mobile number ane email
  • And finally you can check the status on GST portal.
