How to register a cyber complaint?

Any unlawful act, which involves use of any network or network devices to commit any such activity is known as cyber crime. Cyber terrorism, Pornography , Intellectual Property Rights Violations etc. use computers as a direct weapon. Hacking and virus attacks are committed through the same devices.

Meaning:

Cyber fraud is an online fraud meaning fraud committed with assistance of the internet in which someone uses the internet to steal money or morph pictures for whatsoever purpose. Fraudsters frequently target specific people and contact them via SMS, call, email, or other methods in order to obtain personal information. They may also send a malicious link to websites or apps in order to break into a computer, mobile device, or network and obtain sensitive data like bank account numbers, credit card information, social security numbers, and personal information.

Documents:

This requirement varies based on the crime and supports the case:

Email Abuse:

1. Written complaint of entire incident
2. Copy of alleged emails received from criminal
3. Subject and header of the suspected email
4. Hard and soft copies of email

Financial Transactions:

1. Bank statements of last 6 months
2. Highlighting fraudulent transaction
3. Proof of phishing SMS
4. Copy of address proof

Procedure for Complaint:

1. The first step is to lodge a complaint against the crime that has been committed in cyber cell India or with cyber police. Cyber Cells have been established in various cities. Victims can make complaints via online or offline methods. 
2. Please note that while filing a complaint you shall provide name, e-mail id and telephone no. along with an application letter addressing the head of cyber crime investigation cell.
3. Provide the documents along with the complaint and the same shall vary basis the nature of complaint 

Online cyber complaint:

1. Visit the webpage https://cybercrime.gov.in/ and click “File Complaint”.
2. Post acceptance of terms & conditions report cybercrime.
3. Select citizen login option and enter complete details
4. Enter OTP and fill captcha
5. Verify and click submit
