The Iranian Hijab Movement

Iranian law strongly advises women to wear hijabs or headscarves with their ordinary attire. Anyone who does not follow this has recently been detained, warned, or harshly punished. Security officials said that security had been restored in Zahedan, an eastern region of Iran, and Baluchistan after the most devastating demonstration devastated both cities. It is stated that police opened fire on a citizen during Friday prayer. The report of a police officer raping an imprisoned lady fueled community protests, which killed approximately 40 people.

According to reports, the wounded from the protest packed local hospitals from head to toe. The local intelligence unit of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) was supposedly slain, according to Iranian government officials. Videos of burnt-out fire stations, banks, bus stops, and public buildings inundated social media. The authorities accused terrorist groups of organizing the rally. The demonstrators objected to the acquisition and said that police officers opened fire on them while praying.

The government is concerned about the likelihood of the huge protests evolving into a broad movement across many socioeconomic strata with strong demand. Students’ hardships have been well-documented on social media. More than 100 university instructors signed a statement in favor of the student’s sacrifice for freedom and liberty.

The Cooperation Centre of the Iranian Kurdistan Political Parties had previously organized protests. They demanded the assistance of Iranian youths in their fight for women’s independence. This protest enraged residents of a large chunk of the country, particularly in Kurdistan. Police reported gunfire in Dehgolan, near Iraq’s border.

Mir Hossein Mousavi, Iran’s former Prime Minister and reformist politician, urged the army to support the people following his house detention. According to the statement, the armed forces were given the ability to protect the people rather than oppress them to please the powerful and mighty monarch.
