Can someone claim our property without our knowledge and permission?
One of my grandfather's properties has not been sold, and we have neither paid any dues nor visited the land for 30 years. However, in the Pahani/RTC records, we can still see our grandfather as the owner of the land till 2018. But from 2019, the records show the neighbor as the landowner, even though we have not sold it. Is it possible for someone to claim our property without our knowledge? How did they do it, and what can I do now?

: As someone can make a forged document and can become owner of property fraudulently , so you can file a civil suit against that person in civil court and challenge the legallity of transfer of the property.

Yes, someone may have fraudulently transferred the property through adverse possession, forgery, or illegal mutation. You can file a complaint with the revenue department, obtain certified records, and challenge the transfer legally by filing a suit for declaration and possession in the civil court.

Sir, if the property records were changed without your knowledge, you can first verify the original documents and land records. File a complaint with local revenue authorities or tehsildar to investigate any unauthorized changes. If needed, you can challenge the change in court through a civil suit and request corrections. If fraud or forgery is suspected, file a police complaint. Consulting a property lawyer will help in navigating the legal process. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
