What legal steps can I take for delayed land mutation?

I am a retired IAF officer. I purchased land in Gorakhpur in 2002, but due to my service commitments, I was unable to complete the mutation process. Four years ago, I applied for fresh mutation at the Gorakhpur Sadar Court. I have followed all legal procedures, and finally, the Lekhpal report was attached to my application. However, for the last five months, there has been no progress in my application. I have been running from one office to another, writing emails to the SDM, CTO, and even the Tahsildar, but nothing seems to be moving. I am over 60 years old, and despite this, no one seems to be addressing my concern. I am feeling helpless now. Could you please advise me on what steps I should take next?

File RTI Application under Section 6 and 7 of the RTI Act 2005, to obtain information and disposal of requests along with the reasons for the delay. It is advised to raise the complaint to the District Magistrate to speed up the mutation process. Raise the complaint in the Public grievance redressal system to look into the issue and provide the solution to the problem in a faster way.

To speed up the mutation process on your land in Gorakhpur, you must first contact higher authorities such as the District Collector or the District Magistrate as these authorities can sort out bureaucratic delays. You must file a formal grievance through the Uttar Pradesh government's online grievance redressal system to bring attention to your case. For further guidance on possible legal steps to be taken, you must seek the advice of a local lawyer who deals with property cases and may even see the option of taking up a writ petition if need be. Engage local media to cover your issue and urge action to get it done faster. Lastly, follow up regularly with all the offices concerned and document all communication in large numbers.

Sir, if you have not visited the Tehsildar/SDM for face to face meeting regarding your mutation process then we would suggest you to contact them or if you have done it, approach the district magistrate for further escalate matter. However, if still the process is not completed from their side you can approach the court for the same. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
