Can legal action be taken against my sister's abusive ex-boyfriend?

My sister was in college and had a boyfriend who was very abusive, a drunkard, and used to beat her during their relationship. However, they broke up, and everything was going well. My sister got married and is now living a happy life. The problem is that, even after so many years, her ex-boyfriend still comes to our house late at night, fully drunk, and abuses our whole family. When I informed his family about this, they are blaming my sister. Can you help us with this?

Yes, legal action against the ex-boyfriend of your sister by lodging a police complaint under Section 294 [section 296 of BNS], Section 506 [Section 351 (2)/ (3) of BNS], and Section 509 [Section 79 in BNS] of the IPC. If the behaviour causes any psychological harassment to your sister, she can take legal recourse under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005. Also, restraining order can be moved or a direction can be issued under Section 441 IPC for criminal trespass if he tries to unlawfully enter your premises. The proof of his actions should include video footage and messages and you should also hire a lawyer to very well document your evidence.
