According to Muslim law, after nikah, the husband can pronounce talaq immediately; however, in this case, divorce only becomes final after iddah, which is the waiting period of three months. The waiting period permits reconciliation and takes care of any possible pregnancy. If the nikah was done under family pressure, then the talaq is still valid, but it is recommended that the husband reconsider his decision so that he makes it with a free and sober mind.

Under Muslim law, the husband is allowed to institute divorce talaq even immediately after nikah. However, the divorce must wait for three months before its finalization, which is termed iddah. It will, therefore, be possible that reconciliation may occur, and any pregnancy will also be provided for. If nikah has been performed under the pressure of family, then talaq is still valid. However, it always is advisable that the husband should ensure his consent is given genuinely so there is no problem in case of further proceedings.

Sir, under Muslim law there is no specific waiting period or minimum time required after marriage to apply for divorce. A groom can grant divorce immediately after nikah only if he was coerced into marriage so legal action can be taken to challenge its validity. It is advised to consult an expert lawyer who will assist you with the best course of action. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
