Marriage in India can be registered under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 (for Hindus) or the Special Marriage Act, 1954 (for interfaith or civil marriages). The couple must apply at the local Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office with required documents (ID proof, address proof, marriage proof, photographs), after which verification, publication of notice (under the Special Marriage Act), and final registration take place, leading to the issuance of a marriage certificate.

Sir, to register a marriage in India, both parties need to apply at the local Marriage Registrar's office with documents like ID proof, age proof, address proof, and photographs. After submitting the application, they must appear before the Registrar with two witnesses. A marriage certificate is issued after verification. For interfaith marriages, the Special Marriage Act applies which requires a 30-day notice. It is advised to consult an expert lawyer who will assist you with the smooth procedures of marriage registration. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
