Is contractual employee entitled to maternity benefit?

I am working as an Independent Contractor on rolls of a staffing company in India and working for an Indian MNC since last 1.5 years. I get my 10 percent tax deduction but no PF is deposited. My company mentions in offer letter that any benefit applicable to employees is not applicable to me. No mention of maternity leave is there in agreement. My question is - does independent contractor/Individual Consultant get maternity benefits in India if not mentioned in agreement?

Ma’am, the Maternity Benefit Act mandates that the employer maintain maternity benefits even if the employee is on contract or if his/her duration of the employment contract ends while the benefits are still in effect. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
