How can I legally investigate my uncle for stealing gold ornaments?

My uncle's family has dug out the basement of our ancestral property and stolen all the gold ornaments without our knowledge. I became aware of this when I saw the debris in the basement. I don't know the exact year when it was dug, as I visited the property after many years. I heard from my father that our forefathers used to give loans against gold ornaments before independence. My uncle, who was an ordinary man, has amassed property worth crores, and I strongly suspect that he stole the gold from the basement without our knowledge. How can I file a case or investigate against him legally, since I don't have any proof except the debris and the assets he has created with that gold? Any legal advice would be highly beneficial for me.

First, collect a few pieces of evidence, such as photograph debris and ask other family members about the property's history in order to file a complaint against your uncle for the theft of gold ornaments from your ancestral property. Finally, file an FIR with the police detailing the suspicion and all the evidence that you have; this would activate an investigation about the theft. You should see a lawyer and talk about bringing a civil suit to recover your stolen property or some other action available at law. Keep an eye on the assets of your uncle because those assets might have a tangential relationship to the missing gold that can work to your advantage in your case.

To sue your uncle for the theft of gold ornaments from your ancestral property, first collect all evidence, including photographs of the debris and statements of family members about the property's history. Then seek the advice of a lawyer as to filing a civil action for recovery of the property or a criminal complaint of theft. You may be able to obtain an injunction against further dissipation of assets as well. Your attorney will guide you through the process and help with gathering evidence and preparing documents to be filed in local courts.
