How to protect marriage after accidental physical confrontation and potential divorce?

I got married 7 years ago. In the beginning, we had some fights, and once or twice, I slapped her, but it was just one or two slaps. Recently, we had a small quarrel, and she went to her father's house. The next day, she returned to take her clothes, and I asked her to resolve the matter between us, but she didn't agree. While I was pushing her with my leg, I accidentally hit her face. There was no injury, but now she doesn't want to come back, and I believe her family is planning for a divorce. I want to protect the marriage for the sake of our son and for her too. Can you please provide some suggestions?

Try mediation or family counseling to resolve the issues and protect the marriage for your son’s sake. If your wife insists on divorce, you can file for divorce based on irretrievable breakdown. Be aware of potential domestic violence charges; consult a lawyer to understand the legal consequences and protect your rights, especially regarding child custody.
