What happens if a trap operation against police officers succeeds?
An FIR has been registered against me under sections 279 and 337 of the IPC, based on a complaint by the injured person. The police at the traffic station demanded a bribe for the "Mechanical inspection" of the vehicle. I called the ACB helpline for my state (Rajasthan), who asked for the particulars. They then gave me the number of the ASP for the region. Even before I could speak to the ASP, he proceeded to call me and asked for details. He hasn't provided full details but is keen on setting up a trap operation and promised to get in touch tomorrow. My question is - what will happen if the trap is successful and the officer(s) get arrested? In case I face harassment from the arrested person or his colleagues, what steps can I take, and who should I complain to?

If the trap operation is successful and the officer is arrested, they will face charges of corruption under the Prevention of Corruption Act. If you face harassment from the arrested officer or their colleagues, you should file a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) or approach higher authorities in the police department for protection and further investigation.
