What if leased land was sold without my knowledge?

In 2021, I signed a five-year lease agreement for land owned by my mother and transferred ₹5,00,000 to her account. I entered into this agreement in good faith. My father and brother were witnesses to the agreement. However, a few months later, without my knowledge or consent, my brother—one of the witnesses—purchased the same land through a registered sale deed. I believe I have been cheated, and the lease agreement is still in effect. Can I take legal action and go to court to seek justice?

Since your lease is still valid, you can go to court to protect your lease rights and stop your brother from interfering. You can also file a case to cancel the sale deed if you prove fraud. A civil suit and possibly a police complaint for cheating are both options in your case. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
