Why is STP allowed beside residential plots in society?
I purchased a plot in the RERA-approved Asha City project in Bahadurgarh. At the time of purchase, I was informed that a building next to my plot boundary was a water pumping station. However, it later turned out to be a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP). The Asha project officials claim that the dealers misled buyers. My concern is how such an STP can be located so close to residential plots. Are there any rules or regulations regarding this? The plant has not yet started, but if it causes foul smells or noise in the future, wouldn't that violate my fundamental right to live in a clean and safe environment? Whom can I contact for clarity and action on this matter?

You can file a complaint with RERA and the local Municipal Corporation regarding the STP location. Sewage plants near residential areas must follow distance and environmental rules. If it causes health or environmental issues later, you can approach the National Green Tribunal (NGT). Consult a local environmental or real estate lawyer for guidance.
