What should I get in writing to safeguard my property payment?

I am going to purchase a 1BHK flat, and the agent has asked for ₹3 lakh for stamp duty and registration. I will pay ₹20,000 monthly to the builder. What should I get in writing from the builder, or is there anything else I should ask for to safeguard myself and the amount I have already paid?

When buying a property you must make sure to sign a Sale Agreement with the builder. This should clearly outline payment details, possession date, and who handles stamp duty/registration. You should ask for a receipt for each payment you make. Include terms on what happens if the builder delays possession and a way to resolve any disputes.
