If I provide the solution to questions from standard books will it a copyrighted?
If I publish my video solutions of all mathematical questions, of any textbook and sell it. Does it amounts to copyright infringement under the Copyright Law? . Note: 1) Question number (and not question), is mentioned in the solution. I discuss them directly. 2) Author has provided his own text solutions.
Video solutions to the mathematical questions of the textbooks might be violative of the copyright, as stated under the Copyright Act of 1957 in India. Even when you give only the question numbers and write your own solutions, the text and pattern of the questions are protected under literary works. When the author himself has written his text solution, then the adaptations you will do may be regarded as derivative works, for which permission of the copyright owner is necessary. It is therefore prudent to seek permission from the publisher of your textbook or to ensure that your content does not infringe on copyrights to avoid legal consequences.
Hello sir,
The questions donot fall under the ambit of original literary, dramatic, musical or artistic works" therfore publishing the solution of the question do not lead to copyright infringement
