How can I close a joint bank account after divorce?

My ex- spouse and me had joint account in Bank. I am the primary holder of the account and we are legally divorced not as a mutual consent but the divorce petition was filed by my ex-wife which was allowed as ex-parte order on 2020, we are separated from 2018, I approached the bank to close this joint bank account and withdraw the balance but bank is asking for settlement order or mutual consent letter, My ex-spouse did not claim any alimony neither claimed right to this Joint account in her divorce petition, I have all proof that the money in the account is legally earned and tax paid by myself. I tried to communicate my ex for last 5 years but she remains incommunicable although I sent multiple mails to her office e-mail still she doesn't respond. Now how I do get my money from joint bank account as I cant fulfill bank's request to submit settlement order nor consent letter.

You can file a motion with the court to ask for an order allowing you to close the joint bank account without your ex-spouse's consent. This is little complicated option, but it may be necessary if you cannot get your ex-spouse to cooperate. For further enquiry contact us.
