How to get money back from a scammer in India?

My father gave 3,00,000 by an online transfer as a loan to his brother who lives in Indore while he lives in Delhi. He promised to give certain amount as an interest every month. Also if asked would return the money as well. It’s been 5 months since the transaction. However when my father asked for his money back including interest. He started ghosting us including his family. We have a record of that online transaction since that was done through cheque. Also few text messages and call recording where he said that he will return the money. However we do not have any post dated cheque as a safety measure or any written agreement . Now what all steps could be taken to get back our money?
