Should I be worried about giving reference for my friend's passport?

7–8 years ago a friend of mine was getting a fresh passport, and for that he wanted 2 people to verify in the police station. He called me with my address proof and a passport size photo and a signature that I don’t remember much. Since I am no longer in contact with this friend. Giving my reference for his passport back then was fine or should I be worried about it. If in future he does something, am I going to be responsible?

Sir, as a reference for your friend's passport application, you generally will not be held liable for their future actions but it is advisable to retain any related documentation for your records. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
