Blackmailing through false whatsaap video recording

Hello, I have been facing blackmailing by some people who made a false and morphed whatsapp video call recording and threating me to publish it online and also share with my friends and family members. At first, I got little scared and paid them some rupees then i have got to know that they are making it false and trying to get more money. I wanted to know that, if i complain about them via online cyber crime portal, then will the police call me for interrogation ?? will the police harass me?? due to this fear only i didn't go to police till now, can you please help me to guide the secure and permanent solution for this blackmail problem.
