Can a 164 statement be changed?

I have given my statement before magistrate in 164 statement in the year 2005 as a witness. now that case come to trial now. can I change of statement now. if I deviate the earlier statement what happens. and am I liable for criminal procedure.

Yes, you can change your statement in a trial, even if you have already given a statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). Section 164 CrPC provides that a witness can be made to give a statement before a magistrate in certain cases. it does not say that the statement cannot be changed later.
