Can husband give testimony behalf of his wife?

In Sec 133 CrPC, SDM court summon a Lady W for her Testimony as she has signed in complaint letter to invoke 133 CrPC. For evidence purpose APO request to court to summon all the witness for testimony. Court summon Lady W but she doesn't appeal, her husband to give testimony behalf of wife but court Reject. Again Summon issue against Lady W but again she doesn't appear. This 2nd time Lady W 's husband Mr D give Testimony , court accept. Would Mr. D be considered a separate witness ? Or Is it legal to be Give Testimony as a Witness behalf of his wife ? While officially No order was grant for this.
