How valid is a DNA report in delayed intimate cases?

Is there any judgement case ( related to "sex on promise of marriage ") in which forensic medical report have got success in identifying sperm from vaginal cavity in situation where victim reported to cops after long duration of time ( for ex- 3 months or more since last relationship ) ? Is there any such case after implementation of new medical forensic guidelines (introduced in 2018 by ministry of home affairs & CFSL Chandigarh) till now ?

The validity of DNA reports in delayed intimate cases, such as "sex on promise of marriage," can be challenging, especially when reporting occurs months later. While DNA evidence is reliable, its effectiveness diminishes over time due to degradation. Courts, like in **Pattu Rajan v. State of T.N. (2019)**, have emphasized that DNA should not be the sole basis for conviction without corroborating evidence. Since the 2018 forensic guidelines, discussions continue on the nuances of DNA evidence, but specific successful cases remain limited.
