Stealing Office assets without permission

Sir, I am on the post of Project Incharge in a company from the month of October. A few months ago charge of the division of our company, had taken then office assets without permission and later agreed that the printer was with him. Then through mail and WhatsApp, many requests were made to him to return the printer, but he did not get any answer. Due to not being able to get anything done, his I'd was closed and the company dismissed him after seeing his work. now, police isn't receiving our FIR and indirectly saying us to compromise the issue outside of the station. But we aren't getting response from him. We had all email, voice recorde, WhatsApp messages as a proof that he stole the assets. But we didn't have any thing in physical written. Police is saying without physical signature of asset receiver we can't do anything. Kindly let us know can we get our property back or not. Can court provide us justice because we have all online evidences no physical evidence.
