What can I do when the police does not investigate my case after I filed FIR?
I have registered a FIR in the Police station for the case of Stolen Gold, Silver and diamond items from my house. Police has not concluded investigation, it's been 1.5 years already. Do I have option to approach the court?
Yes, you have the option to approach the court if the police has not concluded the investigation of your FIR within a reasonable time. The Supreme Court has held that the police must complete the investigation of a case within a maximum of two months. In your case, the police have not concluded the investigation in 1.5 years. You can file a petition in the court under Section 156(3) CrPC seeking a direction to the police to complete the investigation and file a charge sheet. For further enquiry contact us.
