What is the punishment for 420, 467, 468, 471?

Anil is accused in the sections 420,467,468,471 and 120B of IPC in a forgery case i.e. making false documents in the year 2003. Case is in JMFC/CJM court. Now court trials have been completed. Anil had been arrested on memo 27 of Indian evidence act, which was given by main accused. This case is on judgment now. During trial, memo witness, prosecution witnesses, have been hostiled, property seizing witnesses have been hostile. Even IO of the case has given statement before the court for not getting any questioned documents as well as Articles during investigation this case total accused were about 52 but no one is given any statement against Mr. Anil before the court. The chain of circumstantial evidences is incomplete. Means nothing is against Mr. Anil . I want to ask that in spite of all above can the honorable court give punishment him ?

In your case, the court would face difficulty in convicting Anil since there is hardly any substantial evidence against him. The prosecution witnesses turned hostile, and, as explained above, this had made a strong defense case in favor of Anil. There is no direct evidence linking him to the said offenses. The incomplete chain of circumstantial evidence further weakens the case. In these circumstances, it is highly unlikely that the honourable court may impose punishment as conviction calls for proof beyond reasonable doubt. Should no such evidence exist in support of the charges, Anil has a sound foundation upon which acquittal is supportable.
