Can a father claim maintenance from his son?

My mother has filed a case against my father to reclaim ownership of land they jointly own. My father has been absent from our lives since I was 4 and my brother was 1. He's remarried twice, and currently lives with his third wife and their adult child on the disputed land. Despite abandoning us financially and emotionally throughout our childhood, my father recently filed a maintenance case against my brother and me.
