Can a foreign divorce decree be challenged in India?

My ex wife filed a divorce in Qatar. Initially court made an order saying that there is no evidence or ground for a divorce so the court asked arranged to arbitrators. We met them but they didn’t see my documents and also my evidences but they wrote more stories about me, submitted in the court here and granted divorce. We are Christians married in India first in church and then registered in Court. The law applied here is sharia law. Can I be able to challenge this order in India ? First she filed divorce case in Kerala with lot of stories and then later she withdrew that and then she filed in Qatar with some other stories.

Yes, you can challenge the divorce order in India. The Indian Divorce Act, 1869, allows a person to challenge a divorce order granted by a foreign court if the order is obtained by fraud or coercion, or if it is contrary to the public policy of India. For further enquiry contact us.
