Can we file a divorce anywhere in India?
1. My wife is originally from Rajasthan (and I am from Kolkata), and we got married 11 years ago in Kolkata. We have decided to file for mutual divorce shortly. So, should the divorce petition be filed in Kolkata, or anywhere in India? 2. Currently, both of us are NRI and are residing and working abroad (outside India), but would be filing for divorce when we are on a trip back to India. Is that ok? Also, would it be possible to continue the divorce proceedings (once started) through video conferencing or other methods (once we are again outside India), so that we do not need to repeatedly travel to India within short periods of time for the court processes? 3. How long does it usually take for the process to be completed?
