How is alimony calculated in a divorce?

My wife is continuously harassing me since last one year- 1) Went to police station (with police in her favor) 2) Now she again filed a complaint at "Commission for Women" office with the leit motif of plundering more amount as 'permanent mutual divorce alumni' (she is demanding 15 lakhs which is huge for me) Just wanted to know what should be the "ideal final alumni amount for mutual divorce incase my Salary is around 20 lakhs per annum"? In-hand salary per year is 14.5 lakhs ~ after taxes. Kindly provide the legal advice so that I will get an idea how final settl ement Alumni is calculated. It would be a great help for me.

There is no such formula to calculate the alimony. However, fixed amount must be at least 25% of the net monthly salary of the payor according to the benchmark set by the honorable Supreme Court of India.

Sir, as per legal procedure there are various factors which helps in calculating alimony amount; when deciding how much alimony to award, courts take into account a number of variables, including the length of the marriage, both spouses' financial circumstances and the level of living during the marriage.
