Notary/Affidavit Marriage is valid or not?

I was married in the year Jan 2020 to a Hindu guy. Due to misunderstanding and fights, I decided to move on for a divorce Here the thing the marriage we did was not in front of any court. It was marriage in front of advocate where he asked to sign and the witnesses to sign. We did the marriage according to Hindu rituals (which I was not known). On checking this was just notary or affidavit paper. Can you please confirm if the notarized paper is a valid marriage or do I really need to proceed ahead with divorce if it is not a valid marriage?

Hello mam,

The marriage between you and the hindu guy must be solemnized as per Special Marriage Act and when the marriage is not solemnized under this act  the marriage  is not said to be valid, the notarized certificate is not a valid proof of marriage.

Thank you.
