But the bank is reduction my grade and issued a punishment order on dated 06.06.2024 beyond the stipulated period and marked "X'. Then I filed a contempt petition deposed with remarked " Though the order has been passed beyond eight days of the period stipulated, we however, the delay of eight days in doing so is inconsequential. The petition is deposed of in view of "X". Notice is discharged. So my question is 1. Is the order of punishment of date 06.06.2024 quashed and set aside? 2. The order dated 06.06.2024 is not automatically quashed; it remains valid unless and until set aside by the court. Inasmuch as the contempt petition was dismissed for being inconsequential, it suggests that the court did not find any grounds to invalidate the punishment. About the benefits with a promotional effect, one may have to file a different application or appeal for restoration of the former grade and benefits as the punishment order might demote a person's chances of further promotion until legally overridden. Considering further consulting a lawyer will be prudent.
