Does a police case affect a visa application?

Hello, My sister-in-law had filed DVC/498a case against whole of my family, which was disposed off 5 yrs back as NOT GUILTY. Do i need to still furnish the details of the case while applying for US visa?

Irrespective of whether the case is dismissed or or not found guilty, it is required to provide the details of the any previous history of case while applying for US visa. Any misrepresentations can cause cancelling of the US visa.
