Is it legal for company to stop servicing without my consent?
I bought an electric scooter from hero electric 2 years ago. I still have 2 more years of service from them. But they suddenly stopped servicing their scooters without noticing the consumer. Is it right for them to do this ?
No, it is not correct that the company has the right to stop service provision if they are obligated to do so under the contract. This is a defect in service under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. Check the terms of your warranty or service agreement to confirm what the company has promised to do. Issue a legal notice demanding resumption of service or compensation for breach of contract. If they do not respond, then file a complaint with the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission for the implementation of the service agreement, reimbursement of additional costs, and compensation for the inconvenience caused by their unilateral decision to stop services.
It is not right for Hero Electric to stop servicing scooters without informing the consumers, especially when you still have two years of service left. According to the Consumer Protection Act, companies are liable to deliver the promised services. You can file a complaint with the Consumer Forum on the issue of deficiency in service, seeking redress for the inconvenience caused.
