Seeking clarification of Sapinda Act
Can I marry in this scenario, if my (groom) father's cousin sister has been married to someone outsider of my family, and their father is a brother of the bride's great-grandfather?
Hindu marriage law forbids the practice of Sapinda relationships. Someone is referred to as a sapinda if a common ancestor on mother's side within three generations of your family. And someone is referred to as sapinda if a common ancestor on father's side of the family tree within five generations.
A sapinda can be anyone from your father’s side or mother’s side therefore; you are not authorized for a Hindu marriage if you marry an individual who is a sapinda. For further details contact us on our helpline number.
