Can a Hindu-Buddhist couple marry under Hindu Marriage Act?

I want to marry a Burmese girl who is currently in India on a tourist visa. She is Buddhist and I am Hindu. I wish to marry her, but I don't want my parents to know about it as they have some misconceptions about court marriages. I am confused because a lawyer told me that under the Special Marriage Act, a notice will be sent to my home, which I don't want. I am also unsure about the Hindu Marriage Act, as Buddhist marriages are also covered under it, but I’m wondering whether a Hindu and Buddhist couple can marry under this act without changing their respective religions?

Under the Special Marriage Act, there is an option for a court marriage in order to marry a Burmese girl in India on a tourist visa; this process allows for inter-religious marriages without a change of religion. Application must be made for a notice of intended marriage to the local Marriage Registrar, which will be publicly displayed for 30 days. However, you may request for no notice if you do not wish to inform your parents. Required documents and consent must be supplied on both sides before the marriage is allowed to go forward.

Sir, the Special Marriage Act, 1954 allows interfaith and intercultural marriages, including Hindu-Buddhist couples. However, under this act, a public notice is required, and the notice is sent to your address, which is part of the process to ensure that the marriage is not fraudulent and that no one objects. If you want to keep the marriage private and avoid a public notice, the Hindu Marriage Act would be a better choice since it does not require the same public notice.
