Can I get married to my partner without parents' consent?

What are rights that I have to choose life partner as my choice? I want to marry a guy who is Hindu, I'm Muslim ( hindu Dudekula caste). His parents agreed to our marriage. Our parents didn't agree yet. My mother consult a lawyer how to threaten me not to marry that guy by say parents has a right to file a case on me to pay 15 to 20 lakhs to collect expenses from my birth to till I get job. I'm a low salary income girl i cannot pay that money definitely i will agree with their choice they are thinking. What are rights i have to make my love marriage successful??
