How to deal with interfering neighbours?

I've purchased the ground floor 3bhk house, and currently their is construction and renovation going on over there. I have a tree behind my house. I had warned the workers to not cut the tree several times, but due to worker's negligence they cut the tree, and my neighbours living on the upper floor, filed a complaint with the police, and they want the construction to stop. Earlier too they hindered in my construction. I've been in the police station the entire day dealing with this tree issue today. What should i do? Are their any provisions being violated by me and how can i prevent further interferences ?

Sir, even though it is by mistake but a tree cannot be taken down or damaged unless it poses an immediate risk to people's lives or property. Meanwhile, your neighbor cannot stop you from building if you have the required authorization from the relevant authority. Any attempt to do so could result in a breach of the peace and is illegal.
