Should I be worried buying a self acquired property ?

Should I be worried buying a self acquired property by one person who is not in good terms with his wife ? He have 2 children and the property is entirely in his name. They are planning to get divorce but the legal proceedings are not started. Before that he wants to sell the property without informing his wife and children. Children are above 18. Is there any chance for them raising claim on the property even after registering in my name?

There is a chance that the wife and children of the person selling you the property could raise a claim on the property even after you register it in your name. This is because, under Indian law, a wife and children have a right to a share of the husband's self-acquired property in the event of divorce or death. Contact us for further enquiry.
