IPC Section 74 - Limit Of Solitary Confinement

IPC Section 74 states that - Whenever the offender is punished for solitary confinement, the offender will be executed such that the duration of solitary confinement shall not exceed the term of 14 days in one month.

• When the imprisonment of the offender does not exceed 3 months, the duration of solitary confinement shall not exceed 7 days in one month.  

Note:

• There must be a gap between the period of solitary confinement of the offender.
• The period of the gap of the solitary offender shall not be less than the duration of the solitary confinement.
