How to legally perform inter caste marriage?
If both partners are adults and freely consent to the marriage, an inter-caste marriage is legally valid in India. If both are Hindus, they can marry under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955. Alternatively, the Special Marriage Act, 1954 may apply, depending on their circumstances. The couple must fulfil the applicable legal conditions and complete the required marriage registration process. It is advised to consult an expert matrimonial lawyer who will assist you with best course of action. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
Dear Client, Dear Client, Inter caste and court marriages are solemnized under the Special Marriage Act, 1954. Both partners should submit a joint Notice of Intended Marriage to the Sub-Registrar in a district where either has lived for 30 days. The officer publishes the notice for a mandatory 30-day objection period. If no valid legal objections are raised, both parties and three witnesses sign the official declaration at the registrar's office to receive the Marriage Certificate.
